Canada 08/09 – Whistler – Day 9

Jan 11, 2009
Day 9 at Whistler was back to a relatively early start – although most of us were a little slow getting up and going this morning. We had a relatively normal breakfast as we looked out towards the mountains which, for once, were not covered in snow falling from clouds, or even rain, but just a layer of cloud hanging around the midstation level of the mountain. We were a little slow getting out of the room, as time was spent trying to find exactly what time and channel Nicole’s basketball game was on this afternoon – but following this we moved quickly to the base of the mountain, using the hotel shuttle once again. Upon arriving we decided to start the day by heading... [Read More]

Canada 08/09 – Whistler – Day 8

Day 8 was a lazy day – another and final of our non-skiing days. We woke at closer to 9:30am, which was a considerable sleep-in compared to other days recently. Ed and Kerrie were awake a little earlier, but everyone had a relaxing start to the day. We had a slow breakfast, with much internet surfing and Degrassi High going on at the same time. Day 7 started a little later than other days, as we all felt that we were getting quicker at the getting ready process. We were up and about by 8am, and were very pleased to see snow falling across the village – rather than the rain that had been falling the past few days. It was a bit cooler outside, at around -1, and the trees were just starting to turn their nice frosty white. Both Ed and Kerrie were up once Pip and I had showered and got dressed, but we sat around for considerable time over breakfast while Pip tried every excuse in the book to stop us going skiing today. She was tired from all the ‘go go go’, but we convinced... [Read More]

Canada 08/09 – Whistler – Day 6

Jan 8, 2009
By
Day 6 at Whistler started with yet more rain. While the weather certainly looked to be an improvement on yesterday, it was still somewhat bleak and covered in a thin layer of mist. We had woken up at a similar time to yesterday (and the day before, and so on), but Ed ad Kerrie were already awake by the time we emerged. Breakfast was relatively quick, and Ed, Pip and I were ready to hit the slopes by 9:30am. We caught the hotel shuttle around to the transport hub, and made the quick walk to the bottom of the slopes. Unfortunately the town wasn’t looking any better than it did yesterday, with any traces of white completely removed from the trees. While there was the... [Read More]
